Job Description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our databases. You will need to possess strong skills in performance optimization, backup and recovery, security management, data modelling and architecture, database maintenance, and capacity planning.

 

 

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Maintain the performance (performance tuning) of Internal and Production Database servers within the company SLA.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, with an emphasis on effective communication, route cause analysis and solution tracking.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Highly Available SQL Server solutions like Clustering, Availability Groups, Replication.
  • Responsible for maintaining the organization's databases. This includes tasks such as monitoring database performance, identifying, and resolving issues, and implementing upgrades and patches.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the organization's databases are secure. They must implement security protocols and ensure that access to the databases is limited to authorized personnel.

 

Technical competencies:

  • SQL Server database administration and configuration.
  • Advanced performance tuning of highly OLTP databases.
  • Advanced Microsoft SQL scripting and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve database issues, diagnose performance problems, and prevent downtime.
  • Experience working with huge, interdependent, complex datasets and data structures.
  • Experience with operating system scripting languages (e.g.:PowerShell).

 

Advantageous technical competencies:

  • Production level understanding of Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Azure DevOps).
  • Knowledge and experience in Cloud computing (AWS, Azure)
  • Knowledge of Splunk, Elastic, and Grafana.

  • Continuous learning mindset: The candidate should have a passion for continuous learning and professional development to stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the database administration field.
  • Extensive experience: The ideal candidate should have several years of experience as a database administrator, preferably in a senior role.
