Job Description

Our Information Security Team is seeking a Global Edge Engineer, who has a strong technical knowledge of Global Edge Networking, Load balancing, Infrastructure as Code automation tools, Cloud Platforms and Cybersecurity principles.

 

The role holder will always aim to improve the application experience and find ways where the technologies being used can enhance the end user experience, for both customer and employee applications. As part of the Global Edge Team, the role holder will assist with the execution of a Global Edge and Load balancing Strategy for Security to protect our customers data from known attacks and vulnerabilities and anticipate the unknown.

 

They will need to be familiar with reporting, monitoring, alerting and management of the current technologies and be aware of the features that are available and can be offered. As is essential with any modern technologies automation of the infrastructure is crucial.

 

Key Technical Accountabilities:

  • Two or more years of experience with F5- LTM,
  • Two or more years of experience with Cloudflare tools: e.g. - Advanced WAF, CDN, BOT management, rate limiting and DDOS mitigation.
  • Required on-call level of technical support for high severity impacting incidents.
  • Understand organization’s business needs. Assist with development of Product Teams’ Applications and services and effectively and communicate our teams technical value-added solutions to meet those needs.
  • Strong understanding TCP/IP and HTTP
  • Advanced administration and troubleshooting experience on related technologies, including an understanding of routing, and switching protocols with relation to the load balancer, and Global Edge architectures, and application layer protocols including HTTP, SSH, SSL, LDAP, RADIUS, SAML, NTP, DHCP and DNS.
  • Identify and resolve complex incidents and perform root cause analysis.
  • Perform proactive optimization and implement best practice.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on all application delivery requirements for new and existing products with the organization.
  • Document design proposals to meet customer expectations and requirements.
  • Implementation monitoring and alerting to meet business expectations. This needs to focus on performance and capacity metrics.
  • Implementation of reporting and definition of KPI’s/OKR’s
  • Documented implementation as per design and project schedule.
  • Create relevant reporting, alerting, and monitoring dashboards using technologies like Splunk, Elastic and Grafana
  • Experience with automation tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Completes all project work / allocated tasks on time / as per agreed schedule and communicates progress with all parties concerned.
  • Takes on additional, unplanned projects as required by the business and works after hours where necessary.
  • Experience using ticket tracking software to capture and complete requests. 
  • Works with customers, internal staff, and vendor partners to provide excellent customer service and meet SLA.
