Job Description

Derivco South Africa is on the lookout for an exceptional Software Engineering Manager to join our vibrant team. In this role, you'll be the driving force behind a talented group of Developers and Testers, guiding them through every phase of the software delivery process. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that our projects not only meet but exceed expectations, aligning closely with both business objectives and customer satisfaction.

 

Your responsibilities will span a broad spectrum, including:

  • Software Delivery & Product/Project Management:

    • Overseeing each phase of the end-to-end product/project lifecycle.
    • Maintaining a customer-oriented attitude within the team.
    • Ensuring alignment of product/project strategy with business, customer, and technology needs.
    • Tracking and measuring product business benefits realization.
    • Prioritizing and planning backlogs/demand pipelines.
    • Ensuring adherence to company standards and processes.
  • Team Management:

    • Participating in recruitment processes.
    • Managing direct and indirect reports.
    • Ensuring team resourcing and skill development.
    • Facilitating performance development conversations and coaching.
    • Managing relevant team budgets.
  • Facilitating Continuous Improvement:

    • Reviewing processes to maximize team efficiency and software quality.
    • Aim to automate development, testing, deployment, and monitoring aspects.
    • Staying informed about software engineering best practices.
  • Stakeholder Management:

    • Driving communication with peers and stakeholders.
    • Ensuring adoption of change and collaboration between teams.
    • Resolving escalated issues and maintaining good stakeholder relationships.
  • Strategic Planning:

    • Creating and executing technical and operational strategies aligned with company goals.
    • Conducting competitor analysis and market research.
    • Aligning with other teams to achieve objectives.
